We had a fantastic time on our first GeoEnergy Discovery Centre road trip last month, with stops at the Giant’s Causeway Visitor Centre, which is already heated by geothermal energy, Coleraine and the Foyle Arena in Derry/Londonderry.

As well as a special schools day in Coleraine hosted by Coleraine Grammar School, we welcomed members of the public to stop by on our open days and visited various Northern Ireland Science Festival events as part of our trip.

Our Geo Ambassadors were proud to welcome over 1000 guests from teachers and students to families and tourists on our North Coast roadshow, providing visitors with an interactive, educational and fun experience to learn more about Northern Ireland’s geothermal potential.

Our Virtual Reality headsets which took people on a journey under the ground and geothermal experiments proved to be a big hit. They allowed visitors to get a more hands-on and immersive understanding of geothermal as a reliable, low carbon, renewable energy resource which can heat and cool our homes and buildings and help us decarbonise our economy.

Did you visit the GeoEnergy Discovery Centre on our Roadshow? Maybe you’ll discover yourself in our geothermal roadshow photo gallery, or roadshow recap video!

This was the first phase of the information roadshow and we look forward to popping up at other locations around Northern Ireland throughout the year. Keep an eye out on our socials for where we’ll be heading next!
