GeoEnergyNI wins prestigious All-Ireland Sustainability Award
GeoEnergyNI has won the Green Marketing Stakeholder Engagement category at the prestigious 2026 All-Ireland Sustainability Awards.
The award recognises the team’s work to raise awareness of geothermal energy and engage stakeholders across Northern Ireland. It was presented during a day-long event that brought together sustainability leaders, academic institutions and businesses from across the island of Ireland to celebrate best practice and positive environmental impact.
Now in its fifth year, the event showcases sustainability milestones, innovations and campaigns delivered by organisations of all sizes. This year’s finalists represented a wide range of sectors, including manufacturing, construction, education, tourism, entertainment, energy and conservation.
Under the theme “Smarter Business Through Sustainability”, the programme combined the All-Ireland Sustainability Summit with an evening awards ceremony. Discussions explored how sustainability can help organisations reduce costs, create long-term value, support people, strengthen resilience and improve overall performance.
GeoEnergyNI’s success reflects the team’s sustained efforts to communicate the role geothermal energy can play in helping Northern Ireland achieve its decarbonisation goals. Central to this work is the mobile GeoEnergy Discovery Centre, which travels throughout Northern Ireland to engage schools, universities, communities and other stakeholders.
Through interactive outreach, the Centre highlights the potential of geothermal energy to provide clean, renewable heating, cooling and electricity, while building understanding of its suitability for Northern Ireland and encouraging future private-sector investment. GeoEnergyNI would like to thank the event organisers and congratulate all winners and participants, including our partners on the project, Morrow Communications, Tetra Tech, Studio Liddell, alongside our technical partners, the Geological Survey of Northern Ireland, who also received the Education for Sustainability award, with former GeoEnergyNI Project Manager, Michael MacKenzie, who received the One to Watch award.
